Privacy Policy

BirdSift (“we”, “us”) operates birdsift.com, app.birdsift.com, and the BirdSift Chrome extension. This policy describes what information we process and why.

By using our services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use BirdSift.

The BirdSift Chrome extension is a launcher only. It does not create an account, store credentials, or send data to BirdSift servers on its own.

When you click the extension icon, it reads the URL of your active browser tab to prefill the Google Maps search you are viewing. It uses the activeTab and tabs permissions for this single purpose: reading the tab URL after you open the popup.

The extension does not inject scripts into web pages, scrape page content, or track your browsing. It does not include analytics or advertising.

When you submit a search, the extension opens app.birdsift.com in a new tab with your query (and optional map coordinates for category-only searches). From that point, the web app’s privacy practices apply.

When you sign in to app.birdsift.com, we process account information (such as your email address) and workspace data needed to run searches, save leads, and bill credits.

Search queries you submit are processed to find and verify business listings via third-party services such as Google Places. We retain data you explicitly save in your workspace until you delete it or close your account.

birdsift.com may use standard web analytics to understand traffic and improve the site. We do not sell personal information.

If you submit a search from the marketing site, it is handed off to the web app in the same way as the extension — via a URL parameter stored briefly in your browser session.

BirdSift relies on infrastructure and API providers (hosting, authentication, payment processing, and business-data APIs) to operate. These providers process data on our behalf according to their own terms and only as needed to deliver the service.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
