Connecting
In Claude, add a custom connector (or find BirdSift in the Connectors Directory) with the URL above. Claude runs a standard OAuth flow against BirdSift's own sign-in — there's no separate API key to create or paste. Approving the connection grants it, for your workspace:
- Read access to your saved leads
- The ability to run searches and draft outreach, both of which spend your workspace's credits
Nothing about connecting changes what's in your workspace by itself — the two tools that spend
credits (search_businesses, draft_outreach_email) prompt Claude for your confirmation on every
call, the same way any tool that writes data does.
What it does
Six tools, mirroring the REST API's scope with two additions REST doesn't have:

Same rules as the REST API apply: search_businesses can take up to ~45 seconds when checking live
websites for mobile-friendliness or outdated design; draft_outreach_email returns drafted: false
(not an error) when nothing verified about a lead is worth opening an email with; BirdSift never
sends email itself, only drafts it.
What it doesn't do
- No natural-language search endpoint of its own — that's the point of using MCP instead of the
REST API. Claude turns your sentence into
search_businesses's structured arguments; there's no separate planning step to call. - No bulk drafting. One
draft_outreach_emailcall per lead, same as REST. - No sending. You get subject and body back; you send them yourself.
